Perspective

Tonight I have bunked down with my little man Thomas. Libby is tired and she needs a bit of a break from the nocturnal behaviour of 'the first'.

As I surf the net and read the news of the world and wonder if there's an end in sight, I realise that my son's foot fits neatly in my hand and I am comforted that there is a little person in the world that depends on me. This little person knows nothing of world-at-large: his entire world view is framed through Libby and me. A human touch pulls everything into perspective.

Pretty soon I'll have four feet to choose from. I can't wait for that. We've already worked out names for a girl or a boy.

It's been a while since I've made a post here. I have been hyper focused on external things and I need to honour the notion that in a few short weeks there will be another member of this wonderful family.

That moment cannot come soon enough.
